The United States Women National team has shown there worth in the female football as a team to fear after defeating the Netherlands to retain the women’s World Cup.
The United States team defeated Netherlands 2-0 in Sunday’s final, to claim its fourth World Cup.
The first goal was scored at the 59th minute through the help of the VAR that awarded a penalty on a challenge on US Alex Morgan. The penalty was scored by Megan Rapinoe to give the US team the lead.
The second goal came at the 69th minute by Rose Lavelle that secured the victory for the three-time women champions.
It is now on record that the US team is the first team to appear in three consecutive finals, and coach Jill Ellis has become the first coach to win back-to-back World Cups in the men’s or women’s game since Italy’s Vittorio Pozzo in the 1930s.
