Kano State Governor kicks as Gorilla is accused of swallowing N6.8Million
It is alleged a big Gorilla in the Kano Zoological Gardens has swallowed N6.8 million meant for the operations of the zoo. The money was generated from tourists who visited the zoo during the Eid celebrations.
By June June 10th when workers resumed work, it was discovered that the money was nowhere to be found.
A local radio station in the state, Freedom Radio had reported on Thursday June 13th that one of the finance officers it spoke with had said that one huge Gorilla sneaked into their office and allegedly swallowed the close to seven million naira.
The MD of the zoo, Umar Kashekobo confirmed the Loss he said, indeed there was money missing in the organization but that he would rather not say anything about it as the matter was under investigation.
In reaction the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has ordered the state Anti-Corruption Commission to probe the claims by the Kano Zoological Gardens that a Gorilla in the state-owned Zoo swallowed N6.8 million.
A statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the State governor, Abba Anwar, says that the order was given on Friday and the commission has already swung into action.
It quoted the governor as directing the commission to look into the immediate and remote circumstances surrounding the allegation and “unearth everything surrounding the incident.”
