The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Enugu, has reported the arrest of 10 suspects for engaging in internet fraud.
The intelligence report that leads to the arrest came from three arrested suspects in Awka, Anambra State on the 17/1/2019. Following the information 6 were arrested at Ngwo while 4 were arrested in an Estate after Nike Lake in Ibagwa Nike Enugu.
List of Items recovered from the suspects includes nine exotic cars ranging from Toyota Avanza, Lexus Jeep, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Avalon, Mercedez Benz.
Others include laptops, printers, cameras, phones, expensive drinks and other personal effects.
Mr Ahmed Imam Usman the Zonal Head of EFCC South East Zone said the raid was consequent upon the resolve of the acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu to intensify the Commission’s fight against internet and cyber fraudsters across the country.
He said: “We have resolved as part of carrying out the commission’s mandate to stamp out internet scams, advance fee fraud and other related crimes and help in rebuilding the image of the country. “Apart from public corruption which affects us locally, and denies us access to basic social amenities, Nigerians are treated badly because of the activities of cyber criminals and this gives us a bad name internationally.
We are determined to stamp that out. He also said that Charges have been drawn against the suspects and have been filed in court; and will soon be arraigned.
