The US first Lady Melania Trump has arrived in Accra which is Ghana’s capital for her solo trip which will also involve three other nations in Africa
The tour is meant to address the promotion of healthcare and education programmes that are handled by US foreign aid organisation, USAID
She will also visit Kenya, Malawi and Egypt to foster diplomatic relations.
In February 2018 the United States President Donald Trump was quoted as allegedly describing Africa as “Shithole” which stir an uproar on the Internet. Mrs Trump’s trip to the continent is seen as helping to bridge the gap of Understanding and divisions about the continent
She will also promote her Be Best initiative which aims to tackle issues such as cyberbullying and boost healthy living. She tweeted that the campaign was going “international”.
Prior to her trip, Mrs Trump asserted she was anticipating visiting “four beautiful and very different countries in Africa”.
“She has an interest in Africa Continent because it’s a place she has never been before and she is aware that each country will have its own unique history and culture.” Stephanie Grisham, her communications director, said
