Souad Abderrahim is a woman from the moderate Islamic Party in Tunisia she has been elected the first female mayor of the capital Tunis.
Arab women are now coming to the spot light, months earlier will witness the lifting of Ban on women in Saudi Arabia where women can now drive cars, watch cinema, and others.
This new happenings in Tunis is a challenge for other women in other Arab countries to emulate and strive after.
Souad Abderrahim, is 54 years old according to NBC News and a pharmacist, is a member of the party which seeks to separate politics from religion.
Abderrahim, a former lawmaker and an advocate for women’s rights, dedicated her win to women:
“I dedicate this win to all Tunisians and all women who have struggled to be in such senior positions.” she said
