Carlos Jair Balanta, 22, and 19-year-old Kevin Andres Gil Campo suffocated at the ocean side town of Arica, in Chile. Both died after one of them fell into the ocean while taking a selfie and his friend planning to save him jumped in also.
The friends were said to have been going from the Colombian city of Cali to the Chilean capital of Santiago to begin another life.
As reported by Maritimeherald.com, they were endeavoring to take some memorial pictures close to the water yet catastrophe struck when one of them slipped while taking a photo and his friend attempted to get him out.
Campo’s auntie, Araceli Restrepo, said: “They were making a trip to discover their fortune, similar to the fantasy of any individual who goes to another nation, to search for fair work. They were youthful, contemplating, they had completed their school and were considering something more specialized.”
The men’s bodies were obviously discovered four days after the occurrence through a search by the coast guards. Mr Campo’s body will be repatriated to Columbia, while Balanta’s remaining parts will remain in Chile as his mom lives in the nation
